Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), located at Vattamalaipalayam in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, inaugurated its state-of-the-art technology business incubator (TBI) today. SREC Spark Innovation Foundation, the startup and business incubator was inaugurated by Dr.Jairam Varadaraj, MD, Elgi Equipments Ltd, and the inaugural session was presided by Lakshminarayanaswamy, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust.
“The SREC SPARK Incubator, built on an area of 10,000 sq. ft. within the premises, having a 100-seater capacity, has been formally registered as a Section 8 company. With about 10 tech startups and 2 MSMEs currently incubated at the SPARK, it supports new businesses in the form of mentoring, investment and a co-working space,” said Dr.Sharmila, CEO of SREC Spark Innovation Foundation. She added that the incubator whose construction work started around Dec 2020 will add more tech-based startups in the future from different domains, and provide an ecosystem for sustained growth. Dr. Alamelu, the Principal of the institution, during her welcome speech at the inaugural session, said that the core theme of this initiative is to build a sustainable entrepreneurial community that encourages campus startups and others to ideate, create and commercialize their ventures at the institute with the right support.
The incubator’s innovation team of faculty was recognized in the inaugural function. A video highlighting the salient features of the incubator was played, much to the appreciation of a packed audience. Ganesh, Chief officer, Industry Institute Interface at SREC delivered the vote of thanks. The dignitaries, accompanied by the Principal and the incubation team, visited the newly inaugurated incubator and also took a look at the products of all the incubatee startups.
