PSGR Krishnammal College for Women hosted various events related to startup entrepreneurship and department inauguration with Shameer, the founder of Coimbatore-based By The Startups Business Networking Community, as one of the guest speakers.
Inauguration of ‘Food Prom’
The inauguration of ‘Food Prom’ by the Department of Food Processing and Management was held on July 20, 2023, with Shameer and Dr.Balakrishnaraja Rengaraju, Principal Scientific Officer & Head, Technology Business Incubator – Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Erode as the resource persons. Dr.Balakrishnaraja Rengaraju delivered a talk on ‘Progress and Prospects of Food Processing & Nutraceuticals’. Shameer provided insights on ‘Building blocks of Startup Entrepreneurship’ to 100+ students.
‘MITAHARA-2K23’ – G20 Special Lecture on Youth Involvement in Food Security
The Department of Food Processing and Management at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women also conducted ‘MITAHARA-2K23’, a G20 special lecture on youth involvement in food security, on Sep 27, 2023, with Dr.Thirumani Devi Arumugam, Professor – Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, delivering the valedictory address. Dr.Ananthan, Senior Scientist at the National Institute of Nutrition- ICMR, delivered an insightful talk on ‘Millets as a Solution to Food Security: Youth Involvement in Resilient Farming Practices’. Shameer delivered at length on ‘How to build a startup & the required mindset’. He also handed over the prizes to the winners of different events conducted by the department. The event was attended by over 120 students who greatly appreciated the efforts of the winners. Both events were organized by Assistant professors, Sujithra and Santhiya, with Dr.Deepa Satish, Head of the Department of Food Processing and Management Department, as the convener.
Workshop on Idea to Startup – Innovation Expo’ 2023
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women hosted a talk session and prize-distribution ceremony for Idea to Startup – Workshop conducted on Aug 9, 2023, for aspiring student innovators who displayed their product/prototype/poster at the Innovation Expo held on 7th & 8th August, 2023. The event was attended by the prize winners of the event and over 100 participants, who actively engaged with the resource person, and appreciated the winners of the Innovation Expo during prize distribution.
