Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College celebrated its Parent Chapter Annual Alumni Meet & 23rd Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) at Hotel Rathna Residency in Coimbatore. Hosted by the SREC Alumni Association, the event brought out nostalgic memories of college days among the ex-students. It also served as a platform for establishing network with fellow alumni members including entrepreneurs, Naveen of LadderMinds; Muthu, founder of DosaInfinity and many others. A packed hall comprising ex-students, faculty and their families, who were left craving for continued association with the alumni community owing to the pandemic since 2020, actively participated in this meet with a lot of zest and fervour.
While Vasanth Kumar, Ex.President of SRECAA, welcomed the gathering with the Annual Alumni Report of the previous year, the Principal of the college, Dr. Alamelu, spoke at length about the various recent developments of the institution, which was started in 1994, and highlighted the contributions of the Alumni Association towards its growth over the years. Notably, the college will have its new startup incubator ‘Spark’ for studentpreneurs and startups soon.
Dr Thomas, Ex- Secretary-SRECAA, announced the new office bearers for 2022-2024 led by President Veena Ramesh of the 1998 batch and Vice-President Assistant Prof. Dr. Harihara Gopalan and executive members. The institution’s Principal, along with the Vice-Principal Dr Karuppuswamy honoured a few alumni achievers, and released the alumni magazine ‘Spotlight’. Also, the annual alumni scholarship was awarded to deserving students in the event. Finally, a few alumni spoke on their college life and shared post-campus experience bringing the audience to life. The event concluded with an open alumni networking session followed by a sumptuous dinner for all the attendees. Speaking on the event, Padmashree Subramanian, an alumna of the 2006 batch associated with a Singapore-based MNC retold her experience with the college, and expressed her happiness on meeting her batch mates & lecturers and receiving the Alumni Award, having flown all the way from Singapore to attend the event.
